Women Are the Worst Back Seat Drivers?

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Women may be great drivers behind the wheel, but they are the worst back seat drivers. The car is hardly moving, when they feel an overriding compulsion to shout, “turn left, that way is faster” or “take the right, you can avoid the traffic jam ahead”. This probably sounds good to those who utter the words - but definitely annoying to those who are actually driving.

Some say men are bad back seat drivers - but the truth is women are just the same, if not worse. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where the woman just can’t shut up or keep their hands to themselves? Some women love to change the radio station. Others love to change the settings for the air conditioning. A few others might even continue telling which way is best, which route has less traffic which route has more traffic, which road will lead you to the destination faster, which doesn’t - and never forget the classic “you should have listened to me” rule.

Now, being men, I am sure these women tick you off. With such bad back seat drivers, you are more prone to car accidents. Therefore, there is a likelihood of an increase in womens car insurance. Of course, not every woman realises the importance of having insurance to protect her whenever they are driving (or when they are the back seat drivers). However, nowadays the demand for women’s car insurance is definitely rising at an alarming rate.

There are many reasons why having bad back seat drivers can cause car accidents. For example, when the woman begins to tell the driver about the many ways to reach the destination without getting stuck in a traffic jam, the driver can lose confidence and worse, lose control of the car. Besides, when the woman frequently changes the radio station or even talks loudly in the car with the driver or on a cellphone, this can negatively affect the driver’s concentration - and they could all end up in a small accident, and in some unfortunate cases, a serious one.

Although women might not intentionally cause trouble to drivers, they do have the intention of giving the driver a hard time while driving, as they are not able to drive the car themselves. In order to feel better, the only way is to make the driver feel bad. This sounds ridiculous, but it is the truth and sadly, most women are like that (whether you realise it or not).

Perhaps the best way to prepare yourself is with women’s car insurance, so in case of any accidents, the ladies are well protected and you have nothing to be afraid of. While most men prefer to have ladies as companions in the car, I would say that having women in the car would just cause more of a distraction than having other men on board. Ladies, just get yourself women’s car insurance and keep quiet in the car.

Good luck and happy driving !

Before purchasing any kind of insurance, make sure you research the numerous companies to ensure you select one that provides a wide range of women?s car insurance to cover for all unforseen events while travelling with a female in your car. Be sure to visit before making a selection on the type of insurance you require.

Didn’t Your Momma Tell You Cheapest (Car Insurance) Ain’t Always the Best!

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

When comparing insurance prices online, sometimes the cheapest car insurance is not always the best. You might not look past the dollar figure, and only see that you can be saving x-amount on your cover. But that’s not all there is to comparing quotes online – and you should make sure you look beyond the final price and see what you’re really getting. On the other hand, you can’t outright dismiss a quote that might be a little higher than any other car insurance policies. You might discover it’s actually a better deal than a cheaper quote, simply because of what’s included in the car insurance plan.

So, what to do? Do you shun comparison websites altogether? Or do you ignore common sense and pick the cheapest car insurance quote from the first website you find?

The answer lies somewhere in between. Sure, you can go to one extreme or the other, but as always, you need to follow a few simple rules.

Online comparison site research

The first is to research – research the comparison website you plan on using for your quote comparisons. How many insurance companies do they source their quotes from? What factors do they include in their quotes? And is the figure the final quote?

If they only source their quotes from a few unheard-of insurance companies, maybe you should look elsewhere. You need a wide range of companies, with a mixture of well-known names and maybe one or two newer offerings. Remember you can always follow up the online quote with a quote from the actual company – online or on the phone.

Compare insurance apples with apples

And their quotes should be for the same type of cover (which might prove difficult). You can’t compare Fire and Theft Insurance with Third Party. You need to be able to compare apples with apples.

What about added extras

Do they include courtesy cars? If so, in the event of what kind of incident? Theft only? Or damage from a car accident or other incidents? If the most expensive quote is from an insurance company that offers you a courtesy car no matter what has happened to your own car, then that might actually be a better choice than a cheaper quote with no courtesy car option.

Did you say you wanted hidden costs sir?

Finally, is the quote given for you to compare the final quote, or are there other factors to be taken into account? Keep an eye out for any hidden costs. For example, if the quote is set at a certain amount but then you need to work in an excess, and the fact that your age group incurs a higher premium, then it might not be as cheap as you first thought.

Cheap car insurance is easy to find, with some research and keeping in mind a few simple facts. Don’t get suckered into thinking cheap is best, or that websites which compare quotes are the be all and end all.

Good luck and happy shopping !

When you?re shopping for insurance online, there are many factors you need to consider when trying to find the cheapest car insurance.

How Abundance Consciousness Creates Miracles

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

We are learning how to create that which we desire, such as abundance and love, by rising above the ego-body-mind-intellect complex and surrendering to the creative, loving energy of the universe (God, Creator, Presence, Spirit). This higher consciousness is in alignment with All That Is, and this is a place where everything we need already exists by virtue of using the creative mind to manifest it.

For example, many believe the outcome of the 2008 presidential election in the U.S. was a miracle. Likewise, many people accept as true that the rising of consciousness of everyday people in our society has been a major contributor to the election of Barack Obama. It is suggested is that we have created the space for this, or for any perceived miracle to occur, by first attaining the conscious intention and creative mind for it to happen.

We have all seen, or been aware of miracles taking place in our world, both in the past and in the present. Dictionary.com defines a miracle as ‘an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause.’ For those of us who are on a path for awakening to our Higher Selves, we understand that we are the creators of what we experience. We know that we are responsible for our growth as Beings, and that certain things will show up in our lives as we come to higher awareness, such as prosperity.

In order for us to be able to “have” something wonderful, we must be in a state of “havingness,” which is the ability to allow divine grace to flow through us, unrestricted. Each human being is born with this higher quality, though our cultures, in their focus on survival, create a veil between us and this latent gift we all have. However, we are living in a time unprecedented on this planet wherein human consciousness is awakening at a faster pace than it has in many thousands of years. In ancient times, in another age, or “yuga,” there were many enlightened beings walking around. Today, many people are beginning to realize that they have the potential to become such beings. It is said that we are currently moving into a Golden Age where many people will become, or be born enlightened.

Coming into a higher consciousness calls for spiritual effort. We do this in many ways in order to take responsibility for our relationship with the Divine, however that may be defined individually. We accomplish this with deep meditation, through conscious communion with the Divine Presence within ourselves, by offering devotion to higher beings such as Christ, Indian deities, the Great White Brotherhood, Archangels, and others, and by placing ourselves in a position of active awareness of the ego-body-mind-intellect complex with a knowing that we are supreme souls that are separate from the “body person” we reside in.

All of this personal spiritual effort has a beautiful side effect; as the consciousness becomes more aware, we become lighter… not only mentally, but on a cellular level. And as we gently, gradually become accustomed to this lighter state, we are able to release old patterns and core beliefs that have created resistance. This new human condition is where we feel no heavy attachment or aversion to whatever is happening. We become more detached, more the Knower and Seer, and this is where “allowing” takes place because the invisible blockages are dissipating. This is new age spirituality.

New age spirituality is both a process and an end in itself. It is finding personal, yet elevated fulfillment within by lightening up our mental load, as we have learned to hold the separation between what is Real and what is relative. It is a vow to let go of whatever holds us, like gravity, from truly knowing our Selves as divine. And within this Knowledge, by holding ourselves in this higher understanding, grace finds its foothold, its freeflow, in our lives.

Benefits of the Powerful Makita Lithium Line Up

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

The first time I saw a Makita Lithium at the tool store, I picked it up and just assumed it was a display model and didn’t have a battery. It was so light! It had been my experience that you needed a heavy 18 volt tool to do the job. I really like the way the tool felt and then realized, it did have the battery in it and what’s more it was an 18 volt!

There is no question that the Makita Lithium line has really been at the forefront of lithium power tools. Their Makita LXT series continues to be one of the best selling lithium drills in the market.

Why would you get rid of your old cordless tool and switch to a Makita Lithium tool? Well for starters, who doesn’t like shopping for tools? But these new lithium tools offer real benefits for anyone who spends time working with cordless tools. The very first benefit you will notice is the weight. Because the lithium battery is able to hold the same amount of energy in a smaller package, you have a large weigh savings right away. Don’t under estimate the value of a lighter weight tool. You may not notice the difference if you drive in two screws and then put it away, but if you use the tool all day, that weight will add to fatigue. Try this, hold a 3 pound tool at arm’s length and a 2 pound tool in the other hand at arm’s length, you will get the point in a couple of minutes. Now, how many minutes a day do you use that tool?

Lithium tools in general including the Makita Lithium tools have some other benefits. With the ability to hold more energy, you can not only get longer run times, but the run times will be more useful. How so? A typical NiCad battery will start losing power as it starts to lose it’s charge. You have probably noticed this if you have been driving a lot of deck screws or lag bolts, you still have juice but the tool is driving slower and may not even have enough power to drive the screw home. This becomes even more evident as your battery packs begin to age. With a lithium battery, the battery will maintain it’s power for almost the full charge. All of a sudden, it will stop and it’s time to charge, but you maintained full power through the cycle.

Another benefit that the Makita Lithium tool will offer you is the battery itself has more life cycles than you Nicad battery will have. You can check out the various manufactures, I have some numbers that show the batteries having considerably more life cycles (charge up and run down) which is a real plus.

The most common complaint on lithium tools including the Makita Lithium is the cost. I thought the same thing at first, but check again, the price has really started to drop on the lithium tools.

In conclusion, if it is time for you to consider a cordless tool, consider trying a lithium tool. The above mentioned benefits are real and tangible that you can use the first day on the job with a lithium tool.

Truck Loading Ramps

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Many sites lack a permanent dock and require another method of loading up truck trailers. Truck loading ramps are one way to get the job done. They make it easy and safe to load products into a truck no matter how remote the location is. Construction crews especially value truck loading ramps for their ability to load and materials and supplies for building. Because they function exactly like concrete loading ramps on permanent docks, truck loading ramps are able to support forklifts traffic and workers on foot with pallet jacks.

Various sizes of truck loading ramps exist for a wide range of applications. The most commonly sold sizes are the 30’ models and 36’ models. Both include a six foot level off that allows safe and efficient access to the trailer bed. Other widths and weight exist for specialized applications. Truck loading ramps are normally made from either steel or aluminum, although some are made with aluminum frames and have steel grates. Each of these materials offers specific advantages for certain applications. Other factor such as necessary weight capacity and the amount of portability play a role in choosing steel, aluminum, or blended steel and aluminum ramp. A specialist should always be consulted to assist in making these determinations prior to finalizing an order.

Steel Truck Loading Ramps

Truck loading ramps made from steel can service a range from 45” to 62” and are operated by a 2 speed hand crank. These ramps can handle anywhere from 15,000lbs to 30,000lbs in weight. Both 30’ and 36’ lengths are available, with a number of built in safety features that include positive steel traction grating, 4” high safety curbs, safety lock chains, rubber bumpers, a 15” overlap lip, and optional welded hand rails.

Aluminum Truck Loading Ramps

Aluminum truck loading ramps are also available in either 30ft straight incline or 36ft. incline with 6ft. level off. Weight capacities range from 16,000 lbs to 30,000 lbs. These are simple and safe units to use thanks to a number of advantageous features. A single person can adjust the height with a hydraulic hand pump. The ramp is stabilized by rubber shock absorbers. Forklifts can move the ramp around the shipping yard by hooking up to an optional tow bar that can be ordered with the unit. Safety anchor chains are included with every aluminum ramp, and custom sized steel grating can be fitted to the ramp if necessary.

Mobility

Truck loading ramps can be fitted with any number of tire types, including pneumatic tires. Tires expand the service range of the unit from 40” to 66” and can be fitted to either steel or aluminum ramps. OSHA and ANSI standards require all loading ramps to be attached to the truck with bolt locking chains before use. They can also be fitted with toe bars so that fork trucks can move them. In some instances, other accessories may need to be added to the ramp to allow a variety of vehicles to move it around the yard. These include loading dock levelers, towbar hitches, loops, and forklift pickup slots that an Easy Rack specialist can have installed upon request.

100% Cotton or Poly Cotton Fabric

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

When shopping for work clothes, consumers are presented with a wide range to choose from. The combination of fabrics, styles, and different manufactorers can make the choice a daunting one. Two of the more popular fabrics for work clothes are 100% cotton and a poly-cotton blend. But which is the best choice? In short, that depends on what the buyer is looking for.

So, what are the differences between 100% cotton and poly-cotton blend fabrics? To start with, a poly-cotton blend is just what its name suggests: a fabric that is made up of cotton and polyester fibers. The ratio varies, with 65% cotton and 35% polyester being the most common. 50/50 blends are also easily found. The blend is designed to afford the advantages of both the cotton and polyester fibers into one fabric.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of cotton? 100% cotton is a fully breathable fabric, which means that it can be cooler to wear in hot conditions. However, as the thickness increases, the breathability decreases. 100% cotton tends to rip and wear out easily, depending on the weave. Cotton canvas is a very durable and abrasion-resistant fabric, but it is very thick and heavy. In regards to safety, cotton fibers that have not been treated for fire-resistance will tend to burn away where polyester will melt. As a natural fiber, 100% cotton garments also tend to be a bit more expensive than the synthetic counterparts.

Polyester has an equal number of advantages and disadvantages as cotton. Polyester does not breathe and has a tendency to stick to the skin once perspiration begins. In regard to durability, polyester is a more elastic fiber and therefore tends to be tear resistant. However, it does not tend to be as abrasion-resistant as cotton canvas. As polyester is not dependent upon the forces of nature for a successful harvest, it is usually considerably cheaper than 100% cotton.

A fabric made from a poly cotton blend combines the strengths of the two fibers. Poly cotton garments are breathable, tear-resistant, and can be fashioned into abrasion-resistant fabrics, like canvas. While not as inexpensive as pure polyester, poly cotton blends do tend to cost less than comparable garments made of 100% cotton and they provide much more comfort. The previously mentioned 65/35 blend of cotton and polyester is the most popular for work garments, particularly because of price, durability and a larger color selection being available for purchase.

When shopping for work garments, the choice between 100% cotton and poly cotton blends depends largely on the work environment and personal preference. If employees work indoors around machinery, the tear-resistance of poly cotton may be favorable. If the work is in an outdoor setting, particularly in hot climates, 100% cotton fabric could be the better choice. Before deciding, make sure to take all environmental factors into consideration.

It is the intention of this article to help shed some light on the different types of fabric characteristics of 100% cotton and poly cotton fabric. We are hoping to share our thoughts with you in order for you to make a more informed decision when choosing the fabric type for your garments.

Find a hotel that treats you well, has luxuries offered if you choose to use them such as a spa and indoor pool, a clean hotel, friendly hotel, and a hotel that will not break the bank. Or book an apartment or villa with the same top notch qualities.

Destination Europe may be the world’s second smallest continent but it contains in a whole load of several countries, each of them unique, and each one having that ’special something’ that makes them one of the best holiday destination in the world.

Thinking of Traveling in Greece? This Travel Guide Will Help You

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Greece is an easy place to visit and enjoy, as no immunizations are needed and credit cards work great. There are ample ATM machines with instructions in English. Almost everyone in Greece speaks at least some English. The recommendation is to pack lightly as shopping is part of the fun in Greece with extensive variety and styles available. If you are from a small list of countries, you will need a VISA. This list can be found at the Greek consulate or embassy. In planning your trip, it is good to work with a knowledgeable Greek at a travel agency.

If you plan to see the Greek islands, ferry boats are the best way to do this. They are inexpensive, relaxing scenic. If you plan to go to some of the farther islands, the ferries usually leave in the evening. You will want to book a cabin ahead of time as it is nice to go to sleep in your cabin and wake up in the morning on your Island of destination. During the week of Easter, around August 15th and Fridays in July and August, these ferries are quite full. It is best to plan you trips in advance to be sure to get a space . Also plan to stay in Athens a couple days before your flight leaves as the ferries can sometimes have mechanical problems and you could miss your flight if you were relying on the ferry to get you there directly at flight time. There is not always direct access between every island. Sometimes a trip to another island may require a trip to the mainland first. Two, Three, Four and Five island combination packages are available.

Each Greek Island offers unique enjoyments and beauty. Here is a summary of the main islands and their appeal.

Sifnos - This is Great island for children as the beach at Karmari is shallow. There are many cafes and restaurants near. Located here is one the the most beautiful beach towns in Greece, Platyialos.

Lesvos - A country in itself, it is the third largest island and contains mountains, two inland seas, pine forests, and olive groves. The seas provide a wide variety of marine and wildlife. It is a great place for birdwatching. It also contains medieval castles, ancient ruins and a Turkish bazaar-like city market.

Santorini - This is the number one destination in Greece. It has a giant volcanic caldera whose drama rivals that of the Grand Canyon and is known for its beautiful romantic sunsets. It is great for honeymooners.

Ios - This island is great for people under 25. It is known as a perpetual party place for the young.

Mykonos - Visited by almost every famous person, it has many white cube houses and amazing beaches. The famous clothing-optional Paradise Beach is there.

Rhodes - The southern part of this island is a mecca for windsurfers. Rhodes also contains the walled fortress of the castle of the knights of Saint John and has great beaches, nightlife and some of the most beautiful scenery in Greece.

Paros - This island is famous for watersports and is the windsurfing capital of the Greek Islands.

Mainland Greece is best explored by taxi or a share limos which can be less costly then large tours. Some great places to see on the mainland are the region of Peloponessos which is known as the true Greece. It is known for its great beaches, seas, mountains, and rich archeological sights. It has interesting towns such as Githeon and the Byzantine city of Mystras overlooking Sparta. Other attractions are the Diros Caves and the volcano at Saritorini. The Mount Pelion Peninsula is known as the Colorado Rockies of the Aegean.

Athens is a place you must see if visiting Greece. Transportation is easy with access to buses, taxis and ferries. The metro station will get you to the island ferries. You might want to stay in the number of towns bordering the Acropolis. The Monastiriki Flea Market, Atticka Zoological Park and Museums such as the Benaki Museum and National museums are places to see.. The downtown area is a shoppers paradise with access to inexpensive gold jewelry.

Greece offers a world of entertainment in itself. About everything you would want to see or do on a vacation can be found there.

Trading Online - The New Way to Make Serious Money

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Much of the commodities market has been converted to the virtual world, which means that now, even the casual consumer can turn his hours into gold by logging on and investing. Mothers, daughters, sons and fathers - everyone has become the part time or even full time investor and it is time that you get on the bandwagon and start to invest online. The best? Well in many people’s opinion, especially in these troubled times, we have to turn to that which stills make our world go round, which is the Forex market - trading in currencies from all over the world. Market reports have outlined that the investment volumes that have followed the Forex market has doubled of late, with more cash injections being introduced and more brokerage accounts open.

The daily turnover rate has shot past the $4 trillion dollar a day mark and we are still counting. It sounds attractive because it is and before you make the jump to trading online, you should at least know the nature of the Forex market and the commodity that you are trading in. Trading in money means that you are trading in an environment that is quite predictable. Analysts have place it down to the herd or hive mentality when individuals get together. When one person reacts to a situation, it may be different from time to time, but when you group them together to form into a mob, then you get general patterns of prediction. This is what drives the Forex market and this is what makes it a very popular way to make some money. In these terms, investors always look to predict the market one or two steps in front and to do so you need to understand the market psychology which is driven by mob rationale. As countries and entire continents react to a disaster or economic recession, their responses fall into compartments of reactions that investors use to say which currency will fall and which currency will rise.

That’s is how money is made in Forex on a daily basis and you can be a part of this too. Also, the Forex market is also entirely liquid, which means it does not suffer from time delays like other commodities market, which means decisions you make get relayed to the broker and relayed to the market in real time. Opportunities can be pounced on and fatal oncoming bad traffic can be avoided with quick reaction time to your phones. Its all down to studying the price charts and sticking your guns to certain currency pairs. Trading online was turned from casual trading to a very serious ballgame that many people are taking part in.

You can be a part of this too and all you need is an internet account. Look up for some online brokerage companies and open an account. Within moments you will be set up with a systems software and a direct link to the Forex market. Make the right decisions and you could be rolling in the money.

Information Technology in Hospitality Industry

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Traditionally, hotels were largely dependent on cards and paperwork at the front desk to keep in touch with old and current customers. They were largely at the mercy of the desires of vacationers to arrive, and on their own efforts and staff to be ready for potential surges or long droughts of occupancy. Luckily, such inconvenience and old-fashioned methods are long since past, thanks to advances in information technology.

The first area in which information technology became important was in regards to billing. Old-fashioned paper-based book-keeping was time consuming and inefficient, and was not able to quickly tell a hotel owner what the situation of their hotel was. Luckily, advances in modern record keeping allow for a hotel owner to keep track of what they have on hand, how much of it they have, and how much it costs. Accounting is complicated, but advanced accounting software, especially that tailored to the unique needs of the hospitality industry, helps to enable hotel owners to make smart decisions. Services and products that are no longer used can be quickly cut off to save money, while those who show demand can be increased in quantity or modified so as to reduce the heavy usage.

Most hotels are familiar with booking rooms and reservations over the phone, but information technology has expanded well beyond that. Hotels can now work with various online travel companies and booking services to have their rooms booked online, with no need to employ expensive staff. This also allows a hotel to advertise their open rooms and special deals directly to persons who would be most likely to purchase them, instead of wasting lots of money advertising in an unfocused manner. High quality information technology thus allows for better arrangement and management of bookings in order to allow a hotel to better maximize occupancy, and to know in advance when large groups or lean times are approaching. This allows a hotel manager to make plans regarding temporary staff, good times to renovate or expand, or other concerns, because he/she can determine the state of their hotel currently and for the next few months with only a few clicks on the computer.

The advances in information technology extend well beyond booking, however. The internet is essential for vacationers who wish to contact those back home, and for those traveling on business to get in touch with the office. Therefore, wireless internet has become a very common and very useful service for hotels to provide. Many business minded persons even require that a hotel offer internet services so that they can keep working while on the road. Luckily, such services are easy to provide, as all that is required is a wireless router and various devices to ensure the entire hotel is filled with the network. Modern advances in wireless internet also allow for the wireless internet provided for hotel visitors to be used to network the hotel itself. Security cameras, door locks, and other devices essential to hotel security and safety can be wired into the network, so that staff are alerted whenever a door is propped open, a fire alarm goes off or suspicious activity occurs. Though the hotel guests are wholly unaware of it, this sort of added safety and security keeps them safe, and in the event of a problem they will most certainly appreciate the benefits of such a system.

As advanced as it is, information technology in the hospitality industry is still going forward. Intelligent booking systems enable rapid and efficient guest feedback, along with the ability to predict who is likely to use the hotel again and inform them via e-mail or text messages when good deals arrive. Hotels with room service or other guest services can offer their menus online, allowing for quick updates, high-quality photos, and other ways to allow guests to see and order services before they even arrive. There are also advances in terms of payroll and inventory which make information technology a valuable asset for saving money and maximizing profits. The unique nature of the hospitality industry makes it a great place for new and emerging information technology, and forward-thinking hotel owners and managers are always looking for smart equipment and software to invest in.
